February 25, 2011 - Magellan Midstream Partners LP Pipeline
(Texas City, Texas, USA) A Magellan 18" pipeline ruptured spilling an estimated 250,000 gallons of gasoline into Bayou Pierre. There were no reports of fires or injuries but it forced the evacuation of 30 homes, closed state highway 146 and Texas City's municipal golf course for 12 hours. There was a leak detection alarm around 1am with operators shutting in the line. Crews confirmed the leak by 3am alerting authorities. Swift response from both Magellan and the Texas City Fire Department contained the spill before it could spread into Moses Lake. The line was said to be in compliance with all laws and regulations and has no known investigations about its safety.

January 11, 2011 - Spill Report
The panel created after the BP oil spill crisis by the Obama administration released its report today. The report contains 15 recommendations that were endorsed by all members of the panel. The panel is considered by many to be biased against the oil and gas energy industry. No oil and gas experts where appointed as members. Many of the panel members are considered to be environmental activists with an agenda to eliminate the use of fossil fuels. It is suspected that various members of congress will now attempt to add new and excessive regulation and increase punitive fines on the offshore oil and gas industry.
